Early this year, Havoc Motorsports announced that the points leader in the Ignite Senior Kart League would be awarded with a free test day in a Formula Mazda. Needless to say, the Karters were thrilled and an intense battle started to form. Eric Owens and newcomer Robert Cipriani were gunning for the top spot all season. This past Saturday’s kart race on the short track declared a winner. For the Final race of the day, Eric Owens and Robert Cipriani were side by side on the grid and only 5 points separated the two drivers. Determination was clearly visible underneath their helmets as the green flag waved. Eric Owens was able to get the jump on Robert and held him off to score the points needed in order to secure his seat in the Formula Mazda. After a hardy handshake and congratulations all around, Havoc Motorsports decided to step in. They saw how hard these two friendly competitors wanted this and they decided to continue the battle. They very generously offered Robert Cipriani a seat as well. Havoc Motorsport’s generosity and commitment to growing this series will hopefully have these racers competing on the big track in the near future. Congrats to both winners!
This weekend’s Spec Miata races will determine the SM and SM2 winners for a seat in a Formula Mazda as well, so the drama keeps building.
Didn’t win a test day with Havoc? That’s ok because they are offering an “arrive and drive” package for the Wings-n-Things series. Contact Marge at Havoc Motorsports to reserve your car today!
