The Tovo Twins, with support from Dicks Sporting Goods and IMC, kicked off their 2026 campaign this past weekend at Sebring International Raceway, competing in the season opener of the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli National Championship with Nitro Motorsports.
After two productive test days and a solid practice session, momentum was building heading into Saturday afternoon qualifying. However, heavy rain forced officials to cancel the session, setting Sunday’s starting grid based on final practice times, which placed Ethan Tovo fourth on the grid, with brother Jackson Tovo rolling off ninth for the start of the highly competitive Trans Am showdown.
When the green flag dropped on Sunday, both drivers were immediately in the thick of battle. Ethan maintained a strong presence inside the top-five throughout the race, managing tire wear and navigating traffic on the demanding 3.74-mile circuit. After an intense fight to the checkered flag, he secured a fifth-place finish to open the season.
Jackson faced a challenging race from the ninth starting position, battling in a tightly contested midfield pack. Gaining valuable experience and continuing to adapt to the competition level, he ultimately crossed the line in 11th place.
“Sebring is always a tough place to start the season,” explained Ethan Tovo. “With qualifying rained out, we had to work with what we had from practice. The team gave us a strong car, and while we were fighting for a podium, coming home fifth gives us a solid points start. There is a lot to build on.”
Jackson echoed the sentiment following the race.
“It was a hard-fought race from start to finish,” said Jackson Tovo. “The competition in Trans Am is intense, and every position has to be earned. We learned a lot this weekend, and I am confident we will come back stronger at the next round.”
The demanding Sebring circuit, known for its bumpy surface and technical layout, proved to be a true test for the brothers as they launched their National Championship campaigns.
With momentum building and valuable points already on the board, the Tovo Twins are poised to continue their busy and competitive 2026 season. There will be little downtime for the Tovos, as they quickly shift gears to Late Model competition at Hickory Motor Speedway on March 6 and 7.
