Our penultimate round of this year’s Spec Miata championship took place on Autobahn’s north track, serving as a prelude for this weekend’s Oktoberfast season finale. 13 drivers would race in our Spec Miata class, with Gavin Gleitsman taking advantage of points leader Brandon Collins absence, starting from the pole position, with his 1:11.712 just three tenths off our Miata north track record. Matt Alexander would start alongside, narrowly missing out on pole by just 0.026 seconds. Our second row had drivers who were also 0.026 off each other’s times, with Taro Kushida just over half a second off polesitter Gleitsman’s pole lap, with Kushida starting alongside Josh Dale.
25 laps were ahead of our 13 drivers as the field took the green flag getting off to a clean start. Gavin Gleitsman with the help of Matt Alexander pulled away from the other 11 drivers however an unfortunate off caused Alexander to drop positions. This caused second row starters, Kushida and Dale to catch up and eventually get past Alexander. In the end, Gavin Gleitsman performed when he needed to the most, winning by leading all 25 laps, ahead of Taro Kushida in second, who held off a hard charging future championship rival, Ethan Tyler who rounded out Spec Miata’s podium finishers. Josh Dale held on to fourth ahead of Matt Alexander who rounded out Spec Miata’s top five. Luke Satterfield held off Mike Ryan for sixth, while both Scott and Kevin Ballard finished eighth and ninth respectively. Art Zeismer rounded out the top 10, holding off Groselak, Bagley, and Dvorak placed 11th-13th.
