The first race of our Radical, Wings N’ Things season started our Springtime Speedfest Saturday, with 11 drivers, eight of them being Radicals, and three of them being Wings N’ Things. John Zhu scored pole with a time of 2:19.963, 0.335 ahead of second place Alon Kim. Second row starters, Kevin Laughridge, and Jerry Liu were under a second off polesitter, Zhu. Charlie Morrall in his Pro Mazda would start eighth overall, first in Wings N’ Things, ahead of Rush SR drivers, Ben Hasbrouck, and Tim Miller who rounded out this 11 car field.
The race would start, with the full course yellow coming out almost immediately after Sixth place starter, John Mikulski spinning off track on the second turn of the first lap. The race would go back green after a whole lap under caution, with light rain having started to sprinkle onto the track. While trying to hold off Ben Hasbrouck for second place in Wings N’ Things, Tim Miller spun out, giving Hasbrouck second in class. The rest of the race would stay green without problems, with John Zhu translating his pole to a win, as Alon Kim, and Kevin Laughridge rounded out the podium, also finishing where they started, with fourth and fifth place.
Jerry Liu, and Wenli Zhao respectively also finished where they started, rounding out both the overall, and Radical top five. Charlie Morrall dominated the Wings N’ Things class, finishing eighth overall, ahead of 10th, and 11th overall, but second and third in Wings N’ Things, Ben Hasbrouck, and Tim Miller.
