Scroggins Finds Victory in First June Sprints Try

Starting P4 in the SCCA Sunday “T2” feature, Autobahn member Brett (Skippy) Scroggin had already gained 2nd positions by the first turn. He then set out to chase pole sitter and fellow ABCC member Mark Boden. On lap 3, while exiting the kink, Brett gained momentum on the leader and pushed by going into Canada Corner. Once in the lead, he held sway for the remainder of the race while picking through lapped traffic on the way to the victory in only his 2nd event at the iconic Road America course. Rounding out the top three was two-time SRO TCX victor this year, Maddison Aust.

It was a particularly rewarding result since the Saturday preliminary race saw Scroggin literally knocked out of contention when he was hit by a lapped competitor who had gone off track only to collect Brett and his M2 with 8 turns remaining and a sure podium finish in hand. The car sustained significant damage but after some heavy thrashing Saturday afternoon by the Homewrecker Racing Team, the stout little BMW M2 was back in order.

Post race Brett thanked the Homewrecker Racing Team, his family, “Sparky, Maps and Guns”; his girlfriend, “Blondie”; Chief Mechanic, Brian Foster and gave a big shout of thanks to Tony Kester for his coaching, engineering and set-up insights.
