Over the weekend there was a small racing series known as the Indy 500. It is a feeder series into the much more well-known and exciting Ignite Karting Series where top name drivers battle it out here at Autobahn Country Club. Unfortunately, some drivers have already dropped out of this challenging kart race. When interviewed, Helio Castroneves said he dropped out because he heard Jensen Benet will be racing and knew he could not compete. Indy 500 winner, Takuma Sato bowed out when he caught wind that Tim Benoit will be on the grid. Tony Kanaan said that with the amazing driving skills of “Peanut” Price, he packed up since he knew he’d only be seeing the 6 year old’s tail lights. Alonso Fernando simply broke.
Join the throngs of spectators and watch all the pageantry as the second Member Karting Series takes place Saturday June 3rd at 2:30pm. Racers, contact the kart track to have your karts prepped and also your weights added for this race. Also, be sure to prepare for the Traveling Ignite Kart series coming to Autobahn June 9-10.
The kart track will now be open Wednesday through Sunday 9-5pm and follow the Late Night Thursday schedule. It will be closed June 3rd from 11am-noon, June 7th from 12-1pm and June 11th for one hour for a private party.
