Heading from their Illinois home across the country to California, the Tovo Twins of Ethan and Jackson Tovo are ready to take on the Sonoma Raceway. Playing host to the opening round of the Toyota GR Cup North America program, the Tovos will race out of the Nitro Motorsports camp as they build on a successful test from a few weeks ago.
Set to take on the complete seven-weekend, 14-race season, the 2.52-mile, 12-turn natural terrain road course will be the first challenge for the Tovos.
“We had a great test just a few weeks ago,” explained Jackson Tovo, who found himself at the front of the field throughout the test race weekend. “We learned a ton and were able to try things that we would normally not do on a race weekend. In the end, we have our goals set and can’t wait to get started.”
Ethan Tovo added, “Sonoma is an awesome track, and we have some experience there, which will be beneficial. The GR Cup field is super close, and while we want to go there and win, we also want to keep expectations in order, learn, and earn the best results we can.”
Jackson continued, “I had a lot of fun working on the cars this winter. It was a great learning experience for me. I want to thank Pegasus Auto Racing supplies for the superfast, last-minute shipping and for having just about everything we needed for the car and safety equipment in stock!”
Ethan added, “A huge thank you to Dick’s Sporting Goods as well. In their effort to help the team, Dick’s outfitted the crew with new raincoats, canopies, coolers, and chairs. We can’t thank them enough for their support.”
With podium results in the World Racing League (WRL) already in 2025, the Tovos are looking to add to their racing resume as the 14-year-olds strive for experience.
With more than 30 drivers entering for the first race weekend of the season, the Tovos will work alongside a pair of other Nitro Motorsports drivers in conjunction with the Copeland Motorsports technical alliance.
