As we head into 2021, we reflect upon the 2020 season and acknowledge some special people that made the racing year such an exciting time. The Kart Track was bustling with activity and has become a very special place for Autobahn members young and old.
One of the unique trophies awarded is the Karting Sportsman of the Year trophy. This highly sought after award is voted on by the racing community and acknowledges someone dedicated to the sport not only by helping themselves but others. John Graybeal exemplifies those qualities. John is always able to lend a hand in the paddock or offering racing tips to new drivers. If you’ve been to the kart track recently, chances are you’ve found the warm smile and friendly nature of the Graybeal family. This award is well deserved and we look forward to even more from John in the coming months.
The Karting Most Improved Award is also voted on by fellow drivers and it goes to one of the hardest working young men, Spencer McFarlane. Spencer was constantly honing his craft through countless wrenching hours and practice laps. He had some great battles with fellow drivers and finished second overall in the Championship points which was an improvement from his fourth place finish in 2019. We look forward to “McCrazie Racing’s” return in 2021.
Rookie of the Year Award is for the latest up and coming racer that captures everyone’s attention. That racer is Jackson Woolney. Jackson burst onto the karting scene in late June and started shining. While letting his driving do all the talking, Jackson quickly moved to the front of the pack and started winning races. Like many Autobahn racers, Jackson also explored the Margay Ignite traveling series and has done well for himself. If he continues his meteoric rise, you will soon see him in the winner’s circle more and more. Congratulations to all of the 2020 racers and to these recipients of these awards. Be sure to come to the Kart Track and watch the future Autobahn champions.
