Going into this past weekend’s season finale race at Road Atlanta Britt Casey Jr. of Inverness IL. along with co-driver Tom Long of Rock Hill South Carolina had a five-point lead in the IMSA Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge championship.  To date the driver pairing had amassed a total of seven podiums, three pole qualifying runs, and four wins in the series.  For the last race of the season at Road Atlanta Long qualified the car in second position and the duo ran in the top three during the entire two-hour race for the championship ultimately finishing third which placed them 13 points ahead of the closest competitor for the title.

Post-race Casey Jr. commented “there have been so many people that have played rolls and witness to this Championship and without their efforts and sacrifices we would not be here” as he continued to name each of his crew and mechanics on the #77 TRUMPF Audi RS3LMS.  Casey went on to share thoughts of his Dad who also works as a mechanic and front tire changer on the car who according to Casey “is a man of many hats”.  Tom Long, who’s start in the race marked his 100th in the IMSA series stated ” I could not be prouder than to have won this Championship with such a great friend and young talent as Britt Casey Jr.”  Tom was instrumental in Casey’s start in professional racing at 16 when Casey was approved by Long to race for Freedom Autosport, the former factory backed Mazda team then managed by Long.  “To think that Britt was only 16 when we met four years ago at this very track for testing to now being team mates and Champions together could not be a better story for us”.
