Hello Autobahn Members!
I am entering my 18th season as Executive Chef of Autobahn and it is with mixed emotions but excitement as well that I have decided that this will be my last season. I am ready to start a new chapter in my life in retirement and spending more time up north and out of the kitchen.
This year, I will be in the process of transitioning my duties to the Food and Beverage team and will be deeply involved with training our team to take over my responsibilities, while providing the same level of food quality and service that you, our guests and our clients have experienced and come to expect over the years.
I am extremely proud of all that my team and I have accomplished over the years and I greatly appreciate your support and the support of the Autobahn management team in making the food and beverage at Autobahn Country Club the envy of all other motorsports clubs. I walked into this facility 18 years ago with no preconceived notions, other than hearing that the Club was struggling in the food and beverage department—Boy was that an understatement! It’s been quite a ride. We went from having a charcoal grill outside behind the Café as our only piece of cooking equipment (very interesting to use in the rain!) to the now beautifully equipped Café kitchen with the addition of a fully functioning Clubhouse Prep Kitchen that we plan to convert to a full kitchen soon.
I want to express a huge thank you to the Autobahn Members, Management , my Staff and my amazing Coworkers that I have worked with over the years. I find it difficult to express the gratitude I have for you all. I have made many, many lasting friendships that I know will continue throughout my life. I also need to mention my sister Colleen as she has been by my side every step of the way managing and growing the Front of the House experience and sharing in all of our trials, tribulations and triumphs over the years, and my husband Dave for all of his love and support.
I will remain very active this year and will be working hard in making sure the Food and Beverage team is being properly trained and to make sure of a smooth transition. I will be assisting in our festival weekends and special events and other events as needed this year, so you will be seeing a fair amount of me.
I leave this position with joy in my heart and love for you all— and with not just a small amount of sadness. Dave and I will continue to be members and enjoy this extraordinary Club. We will not be strangers.
So much THANKS to you all!
Love-Peggy
