JOLIET – As part of the improvements associated with the Illinois high-speed rail project, Laraway Road will be closed at the rail crossing between Route 53 and Brandon Road beginning 7 a.m. Friday, weather permitting, according to a news release from the city of Joliet. There will be no access along Laraway Road to or from the intermodal facilities, landfills, fuel stations or quarries. It is expected that the work will be completed by 6 p.m. Aug. 12. A detour route will be posted using Interstate 80, Interstate 55 and Arsenal Road. Drivers are advised to use caution and seek alternate routes when traveling in the area.
