Our Spec Miata class would roll off the grid shortly after our GT Challenge race had finished. 22 drivers would take to our 20 laps race, with Taro Kushida scoring pole with a 1:11.605, just over a tenth ahead of second place Eli Dysart. Row two had Ethan Tyler in his “new to him” Spec Miata as our last driver to set a time under 72 seconds, with Matt Keck starting alongside him in fourth, just over half a second off polesitter Kushida.
The race went green, as drivers right away started attempting passes to the point where drivers went three wide into turn one, thankfully managing minimal contact. Within the first few laps polesitter Taro Kushida led both Ethan Tyler, and Eli Dysart as our top three opened the gap to those behind them. Ethan Tyler took the lead away from Taro Kushida on lap eight, one lap after setting the fastest lap of the race as our only lap of the race which was under 72 seconds. When we got to the halfway point, Ethan Tyler had opened up his gap to second place Kushida by over a second, as Kushida tried not to get overtaken by third place Eli Dysart, and fourth place Matt Keck. It would be smooth sailing for Ethan Tyler, as he would not look back, winning our Spec Miata race, with Taro Kushida holding onto second ahead of Eli Dysart who rounded out the podium. Matt Keck held off Samuel Bowman, with both drivers rounding out the top five, just over a tenth and a half off apart.
