Festival of Speed Recap

Festival of Speed was a fantastic weekend filled with thrilling racing action.  Mark Basso claimed his 3rd Chase Race Pro victory and in his first Chase Race ever, Mike Ryan in the Novice Class, beat out the rest of field to take the top podium position.

The GT races battled the heat and each other with some excellent class battles.  Winners included Brett Scroggin GT1, Tom Herb GT2, Jean Jodoin GT3, Chris Margaritas GT4, and Bob Noorian in GT5.

Live entertainment was provided by Gregory Hyde on Saturday night and members gathered to enjoy the cool air and cold cocktails provided by Chef Peggy.  These parties have been growing in size, so be sure to stick around after the races and join us for Autobahn After Dark.

Sunday morning was off to a late start due to heavy rains.  Unfortunately, the Kart League race was postponed due to severe weather.  Despite the conditions, the Spec Miatas came out in full force in the afternoon.  There were some intense battles between various racing rivals, but Brett Scroggin managed to take the checkered flag holding a commanding lead in the wet conditions.  Sean Varwig kept Greg Sorg at bay and added another win to his racing resume as well.

The Wings-n-Things race saw some new-comers to the series, as the field begins to grow.  Kevin Davis passed Brandon Schwarz on the second lap and never looked back, as he took home the checkered flag.

There were plenty of smiles over the weekend as another Festival of Speed is in the books.  We wish to thank everyone for coming out and we look forward to more great racing!
