Road America provided its usual mix of triumph and adversity as Autobahn Country Club members competed across multiple series during a packed weekend at the legendary four-mile Wisconsin circuit.
The standout story of the weekend belonged to the father-and-son duo of Mike D’Ambrose Sr. and Mike D’Ambrose Jr., who enjoyed tremendous success in Radical Cup competition. Competing in the 1340 class, the pair swept the podium positions throughout the weekend, with D’Ambrose Sr. leading the charge by capturing all three class victories.
The family rivalry theme continued with Team Stradale teammates Aaron and Avery Zeigler. The father-and-son pairing battled one another throughout the weekend in the 1340 class, producing some of the category’s most entertaining racing. When the dust settled, experience prevailed as Aaron narrowly got the better of Avery in the weekend-long family showdown.
In the Radical Cup Gold Class, Mike Anzaldi faced fierce competition throughout the event. After earning a pair of hard-fought runner-up finishes in the opening races, Anzaldi closed the weekend in commanding fashion, driving to a dominant victory in Race 3.
The USF2000 weekend for Autobahn member Evan Cooley and Exclusive Autosport proved to be an emotional roller coaster. Cooley opened the weekend with a solid fifth-place finish before elevating his performance on Saturday with an impressive third-place podium finish after battling among a tightly contested lead group throughout the race.
Unfortunately, Sunday’s race brought a frightening moment. While battling in traffic approaching Turn 5, Cooley was forced off-line and made contact with another competitor, triggering a dramatic accident. The resulting barrel roll launched the car nearly 20 feet into the air before it landed upright. While visibly shaken following the incident, Cooley was fortunate to escape serious injury and was left with only a sore hand.
Autobahn’s Indy NXT representatives, Jordan Missing and Colin Kaminski, also experienced a weekend of mixed fortunes. Both drivers displayed competitive pace at various points throughout the event and showed flashes of front-running speed. However, circumstances prevented either from fully capitalizing on their potential, leaving both searching for stronger results than the final standings reflected.
As always, Road America delivered memorable racing, dramatic storylines, and a reminder of the highs and lows that define motorsport. For Autobahn members, the weekend produced multiple victories, podium finishes, and plenty of reasons for optimism as the season continues.
