Britt Casey Jr., the 2018 IMSA TCR Champion, found himself on the familiar podium alongside of his new co-driver for 2019, South African Michael Taylor. The two are paired this year in the JDC Miller Motorsports Audi RS3 LMS sponsored by Unitronic.
The record-breaking crowds enjoined both IMSA and WEC races over the long weekend of events on track. Casey set the pace of the IMSA TCR field on Friday with a record-breaking qualifying lap at almost two seconds faster than the second-place qualifier. In doing so Britt has once again set yet another new track record for the series at the historic Sebring International Raceway. The two hour race took place on Saturday when Casey brought the field to the green flag and maintained his first place position for his entire stint of one hour and five minutes at which time Taylor took the wheel of the Unitronic Audi and decisively kept their car in the top three for his entire stint finishing with a strong season start in second place.
The two found the new team and driving pairing quite productive as evidenced by their performance on top of the leader boards from Thursday’s Promoter Test Day on through the completion of the weekend. Casey Jr. noted, “I am very proud to maintain my alignment with Audi in 2019 and I look forward to producing the same type of success we enjoyed in 2018. Audi has provided us with a fantastic racing machine capable of podium finishes at every track in the series”.
