Alex Bertagnoli and Advanced Autosport scored big at the SPEC MX-5 Championships held at the SCCA Runoffs this past weekend at Virginia International Raceway (VIR).
With two races being held at VIR over the weekend the pressure was on the finish at or near the top in both races to secure the National Championship. Two Second Place Finishes were just enough to clinch the 2023 SPEC MX-5 National Title by 1 point.
Alex posted on social media after the race thanking his team (Advanced Autosport), friends and family to help him achieve this goal. “I set out a goal 2 years ago to Win the SPEC MX-5 National Championship and now that goal has been met. I couldn’t think of a better group of guys to achieve this with after all the ups and downs and all the hard work the team has put in this season in such a competitive field. Thank you to my team, my supporters and my friends and family for pushing me to get the job done. Most importantly I give all the glory to God for giving me the strength and guidance to reach this huge milestone of mine.”
Followers of the series called him Mr. Consistency scoring 11 podiums in 14 Races with only one DNF. The Car and Championship Trophy will be on Display for our OktoberFast Festival Weekend.
