What an exciting Festival weekend. We kicked off Friday with a full track that saw numerous cars capped off with a nail-biting Chase Race that featured over 30 cars. We followed up after the race with the grand unveiling of the new Clubhouse addition. All of Autobahn gave a Champaign toast and recognized the original Founding Members as the new bar area opened. Saturday morning held the first Autocross with over 20 cars and karts participating on a unique track design that made lap times comparable for both types of competitors.
The Spec Miata race was one for the record books with 30 cars on the grid and a thrilling finish. We waved goodbye to the old kart track pavement with a unique send-off: a burnout contest! Members watched in awe as tires melted into smoky white clouds and engines roared and tires screamed. Unfortunately, Old Man Winter ruined the racing fun on Sunday and the GT and Radical races had to be rescheduled. Those that braved the weather were rewarded with an amazing Sunday Brunch.
It was an action-packed weekend and a great start to the 2019 season so there’s only one thing left to say, “Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!”
