Member Racing Recap

This past Sunday, the weather was “unique” for a May race day.  Despite the sudden downpour a record number of entries signed up for the Spec Miata race. This was a perfect opportunity to split the field giving spectators four fantastic races to watch.

Friends and family enjoyed cocktails in the new bar and patio area while they had perfect viewing of Turns 1 and 2 on North Track. They had a front row seat as cars buzzed past jockeying for position. Matt Alexander won the first Spec Miata race of the day while his rival Brandon Collins took home the big trophy in the second race after some intense battles.

For the first time ever, SM2 had their very own race. Lee Werner took the checkered flag in race number 1 yet was passed by Greg Hunziker in the second race. Greg was able to fend off Lee’s ferocious attacks and took home the victory with his 88 year old father cheering him on. Congratulations to all the drivers on this record setting race day! Be sure to come out for the next Spec Miata race on June 1st and enjoy all the action!
