Meet the Staff Who Provide the Fun and Excitement Down at the Kart Track

Alan Bertagnoli is the General Manager of Kart Circuit Autobahn (KCA). He brings a true love of karting and motorsports, as well as some serious racing chops to his duties. Bertagnoli road-raced motorcycles from 1986 to 1992 in a variety of different racing series (AMA Pro, AMACCS, WERA Sprint, WERA Endurance and Suzuki GSXR Cup) as a privateer. In 1989, he won WERA National Vice Champion 600CC Production & 1989 WERA National Endurance Champion Lightweight.

His love of karting began in 2007 with son, Alex, at the Badger Kart Club and Concept Haulers Motor Speedway. Together, they progressed to regional and national events producing many wins and multiple championships at different levels, and different engine configurations.

Brett Harper is the Assistant General Manager of KCA. Most everybody knows Brett for his calm demeanor and his outstanding ability to interact with Members, Staff and KCA League Racers. Brett has a can-do attitude and can literally do most any job at the Kart Circuit with ease. Brett’s strengths are Member Relations and taking command with leading on and off-track projects of any kind.

Brett is an avid RC Car and Helicopter pilot and frequently goes to the RC track in Morris to race. He lives in Lake Zurich, Illinois and was a High School Varsity Soccer player & Wrestler. He also Graduated from Elmhurst College with Degrees in Geography and Urban Planning plus a 3-year Soccer player.

Mario Santellano is the head Mechanic for KCA. Mario is in his fifth year at the Autobahn CC and brings a wealth of experience to the club and Kart Circuit. Mario’s motto in life is “I can fix anything” and our experience with him has proven that he can indeed fix anything and does it well. Mario is the go-to guy for many members and staff for advice and general kart knowledge.

Mario lives in the small town of Campus, Illinois and bought the house that he grew up in. He has a degree in Auto/Diesel/Industrial technologies and is currently studying at JCC to obtain his Mechanical Engineering degree.

Mick Gabriel is the head driver coach for KCA. Mick is in his second year at the Autobahn CC and is the trusted advisor for many members. We have seen Mick get that additional tenth or in many cases a Full Second out of several members in just one session. It’s truly impressive what Mick has been able to do with his driver coaching and chassis tuning abilities here at the Autobahn Kart Circuit.

Mick lives in Lockport, Illinois and has been racing since 2007 with wins and podiums across many categories in WKA, Route 66 Sprint Series, USPKS, SKUSA Midwest and KRA. Mick’s most recent accomplishment was winning the 2019 SKUSA Midwest X30 Pro Season Championship. For 2020 Mick will continue his duties here at the Autobahn and focus his personal racing on Cup Karts North America and racing for the factory Track Kart Team both regionally and nationally.
